This morning I was taking Dinah to daycare and she wanted to sing "Row, row, row your boat" with me.

No problem. We don't have an established plan on how to do that, but we have an unspoken agreement that we'll take turns.

Me: "Row, row, row your boat, Gently down the stream"

Dinah: "Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily"

Both: "Life is but a dream"

Dinah: "Chickens!"

After I stopped laughing we sang another verse and it also ended with a loud exclamation of "Chickens!"

There weren't any chickens in sight at the time (we were on the highway) so I asked Dinah why she was yelling "Chickens!" at the end of the song.

She responded matter-of-factly and with impeccable logic, "Because I want to."
