I'm usually the last person to defend the Bush/Cheney administration. Their blatant disregard for middle-class and lower-class people and the environment generally don't sit well with me. However, current attacks on the administration that claim the terrorist attacks of September 11th could have been avoided if intelligence hadn't been ignored seem to lack a fair amount of substance. It is always easy to look back at the end of a mystery or puzzle and see clues that look unbelievably obvious now that the end result is well known. However, when those clues are first seen in the often confused reality known as "right now," the importance of those clues is often diminished, if not completely hidden. It seems that the world would be a better place if attacks on the Bush/Cheney administration were limited to issues of more depth and substance.
