We saw the movie “Ghost World” last night. It was a really goodmovie. It was painful to watch at times, but not because the movie wasbad, but rather because it was well done and made one care about thecharacters. If more movies like this were released, I wouldn’t have tospend so much time avoiding idiocy like “Blade 2” and “FreddyGot Fingered.”A week or so ago we saw another excellent movie, “KissingJessica Stein.” This movie was about a straight woman who wasunlucky in love just too many times and so, out of desperation, she trieslesbianism. There was some of the gender high-jinks you might expect, but also some creative thought in that movie, too. Excellent quote from a [column](http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2002/03/28/MN205538.

Everybody talks about the traffic, but no one does anything about it. Thatis to say that none of us want to get out of our cars.
