The SF Examiner ran a great story today about one of George W. Bush’s campaignstops in California. Apparently, Bush spent a portion of hisspeech blasting California for using the “whole language” approach toteaching reading, instead of the phonics based approach that Texasuses. The only problem is that California stopped using “wholelanguage” in 1997. That’s presidential material: Bush and hisstaff are only three years behind.
