It’s Bike to Work Day in the Bay Area. There were probably ten more bikes than usual on the ferry, as a result. I got a partially nifty tote bag, a little energy bar, a flashing light, a coupon for free ice cream, and free ferry rides both to and from work. I didn’t notice too many more people on their bikes in Alameda, but there were noticeably more people on bikes in San Francisco this morning, which was nice to see. One nice thing about biking versus driving is that bikers tend to greet each other at street corners, because we can, rather than just staring straight ahead behind rolled up car windows.
