If you’re not reading The Onion, you may be missing the humor gene.
When we were in the London Heathrow airport, I picked up a copy of Bill Bryson’s book, Notes From a Big Country, which I believe will be published in this country as I’m a Stranger Here Myself : Notes on Returning to America After 20 Years Away. Bryson spent twenty years in England, and returned home to America (he’s from Iowa originally), and this book is a collection of columns that he wrote about the experience. It’s always interesting to read about your town and country when it is viewed through the prism of a visitor’s eyes. Beyond the novelty of new observations, some of what Bryson writes is truly humorous, as well.
